Before You Start
Make sure you have:
Your email address
Your password
MFA ready (if enabled)
Outlook Classic refers to the full desktop version (not “New Outlook”).
Standard Setup (Automatic – Recommended)
1️⃣ Open Outlook
If this is a new install:
Outlook may prompt you automatically to add an account.
If not:
Go to File → Account Settings → Account Settings
Click New
2️⃣ Enter Email Address
Enter your full email address (e.g., name@company.ca)
Click Connect
Outlook should automatically detect Microsoft 365.
3️⃣ Sign In
Enter your password
Complete MFA if prompted
Click Done
Outlook will configure:
Mail
Calendar
Contacts
If Automatic Setup Fails (Manual Method)
Go to File → Account Settings → New
Choose Advanced Options
Check Let me set up my account manually
Select Exchange
Enter:
Email address
Password
Server should auto-populate as:
outlook.office365.com
Important Notes
Do NOT configure Microsoft 365 as POP or IMAP.
Use Exchange / Microsoft 365 only.
Outlook must be activated and licensed under the user’s Microsoft 365 account.
