Download & Install AVG Internet Security

Applies to: AVG Internet Security (Home Edition) for Windows

Follow these instructions to download, install, and activate AVG Internet Security on your computer.

Already have AVG installed?

If AVG Internet Security is already installed and Office Works has provided a new licence key, you generally do not need to reinstall the software.

Instead, follow our Activate AVG Internet Security or Replace Your Licence Key instructions.

Important: Complete the installation and activation on each computer covered by your licence.

Step 1 – Prepare Your Computer

Before installing AVG, we recommend removing any competing antivirus software you no longer plan to use.

1. Open Windows Settings → Apps → Installed apps (or Apps & features on older Windows versions).

2. Locate your previous third-party antivirus software.

3. Select Uninstall and follow the instructions.

4. Restart your computer if prompted.

Important: If your previous antivirus subscription has automatic renewal enabled, remember to cancel it directly with that provider to avoid unwanted charges.

You do not need to manually uninstall Microsoft Defender Antivirus. Windows normally manages its protection status when compatible third-party antivirus software is installed.

Step 2 – Download AVG Internet Security

1. Click the link below to download AVG:

2. Your internet browser should begin downloading the installation file.

3. Watch for the download progress, typically in the upper-right corner of your browser.

4. Once downloaded, locate the file named avg_internet_security_setup.exe.

If you cannot find the downloaded file, check your Windows Downloads folder.

Step 3 – Install AVG

1. Right-click the downloaded AVG installation file and select Run as administrator.

2. If Windows asks whether you want to allow the application to make changes to your computer, click Yes, provided this is the AVG installer you just downloaded.

3. When the AVG installation window appears, click Install.

4. Wait while AVG installs the necessary components.

5. Restart your computer if prompted.

AVG Internet Security should now be installed.

Step 4 – Activate Your Licence

Once AVG is installed, you must activate your purchased licence using the key provided by Office Works.

1. Open AVG Internet Security.

2. Click ☰ Menu → Enter activation code.

3. Enter the licence key provided by Office Works, including the hyphens.

4. Click Enter.

5. Follow any remaining activation prompts.

Step 5 – Verify Protection, Install Updates & Disable Unwanted Offers

Once installation and activation are complete, we recommend performing three final checks:

1. Confirm your subscription is active: Make sure AVG recognizes your licence and displays the correct expiration date.

2. Check for updates: Install the latest virus definitions and application updates.

3. Disable unwanted promotional offers: Reduce advertisements encouraging you to purchase additional AVG products or services.

Important Reminders

• Install and activate AVG on each computer covered by your licence, up to the number of devices permitted.

• Avoid installing additional AVG products or starting paid trials unless you specifically want those services.

• Keep AVG's automatic updates enabled.

• Do not disable AVG's real-time security protection or important security notifications.
